Pendampingan Menggunakan Metode Ecobrik dalam Pemanfaatan Limbah Sampah Plastik di Desa Sidomukti Brondong Lamongan
Abstract
The problem of plastic waste accumulation is a significant environmental issue, especially in rural areas such as Sidomukti Village, Brondong District, Lamongan. This mentoring aims to analyze the effectiveness of the ecobrick method as an alternative solution in managing plastic waste at the household level. Ecobricks are plastic bottles densely filled with clean and dry non-organic plastic waste until they form solid blocks that can be used as modular building materials. The mentoring method uses the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method. The results of the study show that the use of the ecobrick method can significantly reduce the volume of plastic waste disposed of in landfills. In addition, this program has also succeeded in increasing public awareness of the importance of recycling and creating economic value from waste previously considered useless. However, challenges faced include a lack of initial understanding, availability of tools, and consistent community participation. Therefore, ongoing socialization and support from the local government are needed to ensure the sustainability of this program. This study concludes that the ecobrick method has great potential to be adopted as an environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management strategy at the community level.
